Product Comparison Functionality

The Problem

Customers needed a clearer way to understand the differences between similar products, for example, different types of shorts. Without a structured comparison, shoppers had to navigate between multiple product pages, holding information in their heads as they moved around the site. The decision-making process was slower and less informed than it needed to be.

The Solution

We implemented a product comparison feature directly on collection pages, along with a dedicated comparison section on the product page for shorts. Customers can now evaluate multiple products side by side without leaving the browsing flow, making it much easier to weigh up differences on the specs that actually matter to them.

Why It Mattered

The comparison view simplified decision-making, reduced friction in the customer journey, and supported higher conversion rates by giving shoppers confidence in their choice. Customers who'd otherwise bounce between product pages now have the information laid out in one place.

Technical Details

Built using Shopify Metaobjects, which allows the merchant to define and manage custom attributes for each product and dynamically populate comparison tables. The architecture is fully scalable and can be extended to other product categories beyond shorts.
