3D Product Configurator (Fabric → Style → Size)

Guided 3-step product configuration flow reducing overwhelm for custom suit orders.

The Problem

Product pages with many options felt overwhelming. Customers had to choose fabric, style details, and size from a long list of fields on a single page, which made it hard to understand where to start and what the next step was. Drop-off during customization was higher than it needed to be.

The Solution

We introduced a dedicated 3D Product flow with a clear 3-step structure: Fabric (choose the fabric first, with rich imagery), Style (configure lapels, vents, pockets and other design details), and Size (pick a ready size or switch to Made to Measure). At each step, the UI keeps the customer focused on one decision at a time, while the summary clearly shows what's already been selected.

Why It Mattered

The customization process feels more premium and easier to follow, which supports higher engagement and completion rates for complex, fully custom orders. It also aligns the store with the experience customers expect from high-end tailoring brands, where the process of choosing feels as considered as the garment itself.

Technical Details

Built as a dedicated Shopify product template that lets the customer build their desired product by selecting each element step by step. The template renders the full list of options based on data from our custom app, and a product image is generated via the Picario server based on the customer's selections. Because this product has a custom set of options that affect both final price and custom product image, the default product data is modified at checkout using a Checkout app powered by Shopify Functions.
